What a fantastic achievement....three consecutive promotions and success for the second X1 as well (not forgetting the new clubhouse). Just over three years ago the club was merely struggling to exist and I really thought that we might have to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the league. Congratulations to all who have helped to achieve the club's success. To ensure that we continue to move forward we must now all be prepared to support the social events, starting with the race night on Friday September 18th. Hope to see you there!

From: zoon (Mon 7th Sep 2009 at 10:41)
a very big congrats to mullers and the 1st team lads on sataday, so glad you won, its made my day, also can i give special to mullers and baylis as they have led the sides brilliantly this year, long may that continue, hard works over now lads lets enjoy the remainder of the season and enjoy all our efforts this season. c u all the wkend

From: malcolm Hill (Sun 6th Sep 2009 at 19:50)
Well BIG concratulations to all at the club, well done to everyone,I, like many of the more " mature players " doubted that the club would still exist in 2009, never mind progress up the leagues as you have done. Lets hope the success will attract 2 or 3 new players to continue the move upwards.
Again well done, its been a pleasure.

From: Dunc (Sun 6th Sep 2009 at 18:44)
I would like to officially say well done to my 1st team brothers, wish i could have been there to support. Looking forward to Div 3 next year!

When are we going to see you take the field again?
Both teams goin to need some more players in Div 3 next year!

From: Dunc (Wed 2nd Sep 2009 at 17:15)
Well without the Bear and his magnificant arm next year we are all going to have to be on our metal, either to consilidate the promotion or if things don\'t work out winning the promotion we should have won! Anyway a mate has aked if i would like to tag along with a few others for a weekly net for a couple of hours at Edgbaston, ive asked if he minds me inviting people from the club and the answer is no not at all, as long as we don\'t hijack it and turn it into a club night. Anyway im starting my pre-season nets in a week or two, if anyone fancies keeping in nick let me know and il sort out the details. cheers

Yep well done Malc,
Gibbo, in terms of getting money in was thinking of suggesting the "old hewell" game again this year for one of the free Sundays in Sept. The last one generated good income as it was attended by former members greater in number than the 11 that played.
Would be good opportunity for bar takings, bat card etc.

Yep -sounds good to me Malc go for it!!
I could try and arrange but would need to be quick?

From: Gibbo (Sat 8th Aug 2009 at 11:17)
A big thank you to you Malcolm for your fantastic support of the club. Over £250 into the club on the day which is absoutely amazing!!

I'm sure I speak on behalf of all club members when I say that this is the kind of support we need and want from our members.

Many Thanks again!

Cheers

Gibbo

A big thank you to all of you who helped out wth our cricket game last night. The real reason for staging the game was to raise some cash for the club (but dont tell anyone who played)Again many thanks to Gibbo, Gregg, James, Mullers, and club catering manager Mr Robert Harding. Oh and Snarly

Hi ya,
Well the July weather put paid to the proposed Moss Construction V N G Bailey planned for last Tuesday 21st.
However we would like to reschedule the fixture for next Thursday 6th August at 5.30, Can someone confirm that this will be ok? Polar can you do the catering as planned last time? I am away this weekend can someone give me a call to confirm, get me on 07791 719818 any time.

Good Luck Saturday

From: malcj (Fri 3rd Jul 2009 at 11:49)
Say what you see Zulf!! In fairness to Polar, we have only got a small square and under his captaincy we won't wear it out! Also if we can get games out the way that quickly there will be no need for a tea interval but still collect the match fee, hence improving the financial status of the club!
So perhaps not bell-end? perhaps genius?
Let me know your thoughts.
Is may spelling OK? xxx

From: malcj (Fri 3rd Jul 2009 at 09:49)
Hello Paul, you'll be pleased to know we have fully embraced the smoking ban, no problem, just means Macky gets very limited use of the club house.
Can't believe you are missing that tip in Small Heath, Australia is to near to it as far as I'm concerned. Hope you witnessed the 5-1 win by satelite and you can look forward to another couple next season.
A painter and decorator friend of mine moved to Adelaide last year, I've asked him to paint your house claret and blue when you're out!

From: Paul Glaze (Wed 1st Jul 2009 at 11:47)
Hi Dave and all the team at Hewell.
Greetings from Adelaide where Cricket can be played 340 days of the year.
Great to see the club are going fron strength to strength and have embraced cyberspece. Good to see the old familiar faces on the web site. How is foggy coping with the smoking ban, is cookie still getting into the Satuday team, has Malcolm H improved his singing and how are the neighbours?
Alls well down under although i\'d kill for a pint of bitter down at the coach \'n\' horses down the road from St Andrews. Simon is now playing for Glenelg CC. The home of the Chappell family. However the old man\'s cricket career has not prospered so well. One game one defeat 4 overs 18 runs no wicket out for 4 !!! Must do better next season in this very competitive sporting town.
Lets hope England stuff the Aussies in the ashes.
All the best

Can somebody give me availability and cost to hire the ground and provide buffet for a works cricket game on Tuesday 21st July at Hewell.
There will be a free bar for the players, Iam hoping to make a few quid for the club, it is a repeat of last years fixture Moss construction V Bailey Building Services, Let me know ASAP

Don't worry Kulfi could be any of many of us the way things are going.
As captain you could always push your tail enders up the order and pop down the bottom for a few average boosting not outs until James returns.
Ways and means Kulfi..............xx

Why. Thank you mr no name. I assume the ill informed information you are on about is the fact that everyone moans about people not paying subs yet won't say thing in public?? Therefore mr no name- I am happy to apologise - untill the next time someone is overheard moaning about people being picked even though they have shown no interest in being an "active" member of the club. As for the selection aspect- I believe mr monkey had already answered that point. Mr jones was not atsnging the team so cannot be held accountable. Oh- and yes I was vice captain last year - but I think you will find i was involved in almost as many first team games, as second. Thanks

(This might seem sad, but I quite like being called Mr Monkey!!... lol Gibbo xxx)

From: malc j (Tue 28th Apr 2009 at 19:14)
Er....allow me to comment on this dibarkul before it gets out of hand.
Mullers asked me to sort teams in his absence and to those present at training on the Wed before the A Bank game I stated that we would try and give everyone a bat/bowl who wanted one before the league started over the two Sundays, but regarding the FIRST GAME - PRIORITY WOULD BE GIVEN TO WORK PARTY/NETS MEMBERS. The main reason several names occured again in the Entaco game was down to their goodwill at 2.15 on Sun when 3 or 4 who were "available" failed to turn up. Thanks for that! Until then none of the line up had played the previous Sun. After being team sec. for over 15 years unfortunately rules have to be broken sometimes to field just eleven players, some know this and take advantage!
Anyway, enough! Oh...and anyone who picks me up on my spelling...remember this: Cee yoU Next Tuesday XXX

From: Anonymous (Tue 28th Apr 2009 at 16:35)
Well said gibbo.... I personaly felt last season was a great era in the clubs history. We fielded three teams a weekend and after a bad start it went ok. And wasn't woody a vice captain last season?! If you have issues with team selection Woody, then you need to approach Malcolm Jones as Selection Chairman and not just blurt ill informed info. out on the message board.

From: Selection Monkey (Tue 28th Apr 2009 at 09:25)
Woody - In response - I would say that every member has until the end of May to pay their subs before not being selected for matches, and every member has the right to be selected for any match.
Pre-season is different to any other weeks, as we want to try to give everyone a game before the league matches start.
The fact that some players let us down has been noted for future purposes and the selection monkeys will do their best to ensure that all is fair and above board. I was involved in the process throughout, and ensured that we gave people a chance that (alledgedly) wanted to play, so I am the monkey that you are referring to!
When we were short we recruited players in at short notice, namely Polar, Rob P and Gaz, this was the best we could do at 2.15 when the others didnt turn up. Apologies if this is not to your liking, but if you think you could do better, then why dont you take on some responsibility??
I think its very easy to give abuse, when you wont even do the job yourself. If you have any further issues, speak to me face to face. Cheers Gibbo

Re: responsibility - You could always become Sunday Captain to ensure this doesnt happen again?!

(And for YOU and Polar - debacle is spelt D-E-B-A-C-L-E - The Spelling Monkey x !!)

From: Woody (Mon 27th Apr 2009 at 23:12)
Thanks to the selection monkey that included 2 players who -have not turned up to any net session, payed any subs, and have only attended one wednesday night session- in the team for the game against entaco. As Malc J has already arranged avaliabiltiy the week before i find it strange that the players that played were included.
I understand that everyone had to be given a chance to play at least one of the games, but funny how selection rules get bent when it suits others.

This isnt a good start to the season- I hope for all our sakes that this will be halted before we get into the debalcale-thats like a cock up Polar- that we had last year with players not turning up and not paying subs.

The committee and senior players should have a better control over this.

If any of you have any problems with this then come to me face to face and tell me.

Woody

All

Please can you pay your annual subs for this season ASAP, the club needs funds urgently to pay for league fees and balls etc. If you cant pay the full £65, at least make a contribution....

Only 8 of the 40 members so far have paid, which means that we have £2080 of outstanding subs to be paid.

Please bring it to nets on Mondays, or send it direct to Ski his address in on website. Or we can collect from your home address if thats the only way we can get it!!

Please pay ASAP, as this is causing more work than it should do.

From: Gibbo (Mon 2nd Mar 2009 at 14:43)
In response to work parties - I do have to agree with Polar....on saturday just gone, there were 4 people there - me, dave mullard, Rob Mullard and Polar, I dont dispute that people may have attended work parties over the years, but we still have lots of work to be done, and it is the same people doing everything. Everyone uses the facilities, and everyone just expects the club/ground to be maintained, and there are a lot of people that moan when the club/ground isnt up to scratch. But spookily you never see the moaners doing any work to improve the place...I cant believe that we have had to offer money for people to come to work party days...its about time some of the club members started to pull their weight, and those people will know who they are, its not the people that have done it since 1986, and I understand not everyone can come every week, or come all day, all we ask is that members make a bit of time to help. Clubs like ours need volunteers to help us throiugh, we need our members to pull together, but at the moment no-one is coming to help, so jobs are taking longer than they should. MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COME AND HELP!!!

I wasn't having a go at any player and im aware of what people do off the pitch and behind the scences. the point i was raising is that we have a large squad now and there shouldn\'t be just 6 players at work meet. the issue is some of those players will end up geting fed up and wont do nothing then were well we be? i do realise people do have other things to do but 1hr or two would mean a great deal to those working hard to improve club.

Polar please be careful who you aim your comments at. I was involved in work parties at the club from 1986 till about 2 years ago not to mention team sec sat/sun for 15 years. When my wife works Saturdays it is not always possible to arrange babysitters. So in view of the above, your turn now I'm sure I'll be back in circulation soon.Oh and whoever typed that for you, remind them to turn the PC off!

Isn't it amazing that we can get 22 players out on a sat but we can only get 6 to a work meet. i suppose u all reckon that the fairies do all the work around the club. Then i suppose every will still moan when the club aint ready for the start of the season. theres so much we could do to the place with a bit of effort. now there is going to be one next week and we are normaly there 9 till 4 and if u cant make that im willing to go sun for a bit. we have done so much theres alot more we can do its ur club not any one elses - u spend most of your weekend up there so would u like to spend it in a tip or somewere nice?

Fair Point Malc - but in fairness we do not wish to discriminate against those that are less academic!! lol

Best wishes to all the Gibson family, especially David and Mike who I played cricket with in the mid to late 80's at Chorleywood. Looks like David has progressed well - career best 174! Enjoy your cricket!
