Single Wicket Competition
2008 Winner
Dave Gibson
There were a few good surprises in terms of result on Saturday, the title could have gone to anyone, but Gibbo held firm to secure Hewells Single wicket competition.
Gibbo had a favourable draw that enabled him to get to the final, 1st of all seeing off 2nd team skipper, Neil Sutton, then Woody, who had beaten Ski in the 1st round, then Polar "fetch it" Harding, gave a lot of chat, but lost his wicket 6 times in 2 overs, And in the Final Gibbo overcame Rob Perry, who was the giant Killer of the day.
Rob Perry - Giant Killer
Player of the Day
Rob Beat the legend Mackie in the 1st round by restricting mackies run scoring, then seeing his bowling out, then he was drawn against Mullers, and he beat him!! Mullers unable to get a bat on his tight bowling, and with the handicapping system Robs score proved too many, Rob then drew Immy, who in previous matches had smacked the ball to all parts, but not against Rob. Rob batted 1st and promptly despatched Immy around the ground leaving Immy too much to do with the bat. Rob finally succumbed to Gibbo in the final, as he lost a few wickets, and Gibbo only had a small total to achieve.
Many Thanks to all that turned up and took part, the day was great fun, a long day, but played in good spirit throughout, thanks also go to Mullers, Shak, Immy, Kam and Zulf for providing some good grub for after the match, Lisa for the teas, and The grounds team for getting the pitch ready.
Thanks to all of the following for making it a great day -
Mark Wood, Neil Sutton, Rob Mullard, Dave Mullard, Ian Williams, Imran Khan, Mo Shakeel, Kam Khan, Craig Harvey, Rob Harding, Dave Gibson, Rob Perry, James Baylis, Zulf Shah, Mark Allcock & Charlie Hill.
